Thanksgiving

Cath, Derek, Adelyn, and Abigail hosted Thanksgiving this year. We had wonderful company and a glorious spread of turkey-day food. And, as always, we had much to be thankful for.

A word from mommy...finally!

So it has taken me 4 and a half months to write a blog about my darling little girls. Well, life with 2 kids...it's both amazing and CRAZY...that's for sure. Abigail just had her 4 month doctor appointment and is doing very well. She just had her first tooth come through, which is always fun, and is almost sitting up on her own. She is very interactive these days; loves to giggle and talk to friends and, of course, her big sister Adelyn. Adi is a very good big sister. She is always helping mom find the baby's nuk or playing with her to keep her happy when mom is trying to get something done. Everytime I tell Adi we are going somewhere she always asks if Abby is coming too and helps me get her stuff together; it's very sweet. The bond they are forming already is truly precious!

Mom has been back to work part-time for about a month and a half now, and everyone seems to be adjusting well. We have a teenage babysitter who lives in the naighborhood who takes care of the girls for the few hours when both mom and dad are at work, and she does a really good job. It's also pretty convenient for mom and dad to have someone come to our house. All in all, two working parents really makes everyone cherish the time we have together as a family!

Late August we "celebrated" our 1 year anniversary in our Burnsville home. While we haven't accomplished all the projects we hoped to do by now, we are LOVING our home as it is and espeically our neighborhood. On any day/evening of the week with decent weather, you can almost bet that there will be about 5-10 kids running/riding from yard to yard playing. Adelyn is truly in heaven! She's definitely the youngest of the crew, but she loves it just the same. We are truly blessed to have wonderful kids, parents, and grandparents in our neighborhood.

We are not looking forward to the end of summer, but are loving this GREAT fall beginning. We are hoping this recent weather continues through November to make up for the "lost" summer. Hey, I can keep hoping, can't I?

That's all for now. I have to get some very important sleep when I can. We'll try to post a whole bunch of pictures soon so you can see how quickly our little girls are growing and changing.

With love,
Mommy

Words....

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. But how bout' just a few words and no pictures? I know, seems like a crazy thing to do, right. Well, we've been posting mostly pictures in previous posts; mostly because its quicker, easier, and less taxing on the brain. That is another way of saying, life is gosh-darn crazy with two little girls. Why didn't someone warn us?

So, what have we been up to lately? We've squeezed in multiple cabin rides this summer, and have been blessed with safe travels and not too much trouble from the girls. There was that one trip when mama Catherine and aunty michelle got stuck in Akely (the middle of nowhere) but even then, Abby and Adi were unphased by the drama. We have seen more relatives (on both sides) then we can even count this summer but Adelyn, especially, was grateful to meet so many special people. The cabin trips have slowly been sputtering as mommy is back to work at the hospital and the hustle/bustle of life is back in full pendulum. While we won't admit that summer is almost over, it will soon be impossible to ignore the changing color of the leaves.

Catherine and I celebrated our 3 year wedding anniversary on Wednesday (the 19th). 2 babies in 3 years; not bad huh? In 12 years, we'll both be about 40 and if you crunch a few numbers, I think that puts us around 10 kids all in. Maybe we can pick up our own reality TV show to help pay for college and weddings? Ok, I am digressing as usual. The anniversary turned out to be a little less romantic than we had hoped for, as all the girls (mama, adi, and abby) got the dreaded "hand, foot, and mouth" disease. Yes, thats a real thing. So we canceled our dinner plans and mommy took a much needed nap. Dad ordered pizza, and studied up for fantasy football. Quite the night :). Everyone is slowly recovering (we hope) but needless to say, Abby has been keeping us up all through the night. We are praying for her speedy recovery.

Adelyn is getting bigger and smarter every day. She has recently been learning to pedal her two wheel bike with training wheels. She loves it... until she realizes she is speeding down the driveway, headed for the street. We are very proud of her level of patience with the baby, given the amount of care/attention Abby has needed recently. Adelyn is never upset, but cherishes her time with us when the baby is napping. She'll often snuggle up with you and say "I love you" or "I'm just hugging you". Too cute. We've started looking for fun fall programs for her and mom to join once summer ends. There are multiple options thru the city of Burnsville and Adelyn cherishes time with other children, so we are excited about it.

We've got many more pictures, so we'll have to find a good time to upload them to the blog. We hope to venture north to the cabin (both wallace and bye) one more time before we close up shop. We've definitely enjoyed our summer and hope you have too. Adi and Abby say hi and can't wait to see you soon.

Lots of Love!

It's picture time, it's picture time!

I know I know, I'm a lazy blogger. Here are pics of our most recent vacation to both cabins! Who doesn't love pictures?
