First Bath (and First Crawl?)

Abigail took her first bath in the big tub tonight. She didn't mind at all, and actually seemed slightly amused. The summer heat, turned her air into a little afro which was quite humorous.

We also noticed when we put Abigail on her tummy, she is already starting to crawl! Ok, well maybe scooting is a better word. But, we have proof. Check out the arches. Even at 2 weeks, that is more crawling than Adelyn ever did! We are taking Adelyn and Abigail to the cabin (both cabins actually) for a long memorial day weekend. We hope to snap many photos to share. Until then....

A Mother's Day Baptism

A special Thanks to all the moms for sharing their day with my baptism. I counted 9 mothers in all (Bernie, Margaret, Patti, Sanja, Christine, Julie, Michelle, Catherine, and Laura). Man...that's a lotta hot mamas. I am very little but I think I counted 30 people comfortably nestled into the Bye Mansion. Thanks for all the help with food and drink to those who graciously volunteered. My mom and dad said that it was quite the spread. And they also mentioned that we had only 8 leftover bottles of juice.....

I was glad to meet so many of my cousins and my favorite was when they were all huddled around the bapstimal font. Can you believe that no one fell in?!

Thanks again to everyone for making it a special and memorable day for me!

Adelyn and Abigail

Adelyn holds Abigail for the first time.

Knucks!

Here's a couple more pictures from Day 1 at home. Adelyn was excited for everyone to be back at home together. She was very proud of her little sister and would shout "my baby, my baby" when showing her off to the neighbor kids. She hasn't been jealous or extra needy, and is a wonderful big sister. She did ask Abigail to give her "knucks" which was super hilarious, and Adi was confused why she didn't get a fist pound in return from her little sister. They'll be making up secret handshakes before you know it.

Mom and Dad are remembering what it feels like to operate on very little sleep. Abigail feeds every couple of hours (at least), so the nights are quite the feeding frenzy. But it's impossible to be frustrated, because she is just too cute ...... even at 3:00 in the morning. Give us the benefit of the doubt if you are visiting and we start to doze off. We catch our z's when we can. Lots of love.

Home Coming!

We left the hospital at around 11:00am this morning. We were very anxious.

We forget just how small a newborn in a car seat really is.

We are so excited to be home. I am sure the neighbors will want to come over soon, as well as the grandmas, grandpas, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, co-workers, and mailmen.

Abigail had her first feeding at home and then we bundled her up for her first nap in her new room. She doesn't quite fill the crib up yet.

Adelyn Visits

We had a few visitors today in the morning. Grandma Margaret and Grandpa Bill brought Adelyn to see her sister Abigail again. Adi had a good night's sleep with the Grandparents and was super cute . She loves the free hospital crackers. I don't think she gets that we will be taking Abigail home FOR GOOD tomorrow. It will be so fun to have the two little girls in the house. Aunty Michelle also came for a visit, and brought a beautiful new outfit for her niece. Slideshow pics will continue to get updated. Click on the slideshow to zoom in on your favorite pics.

Lots of Love,
Derek, Catherine, Adelyn, and Abigail

Settled In

We are settled in to our new little room with Abigail. She was able to spend the night with us which was a refreshing difference from our last experience. She is quite the eater - we must say!

We had some fun visitors the first day, and look forward to seeing more family on Wednesday. Aunty Nini brought Adelyn which was a precious first moment with the new sisters. Adelyn thinks Abigail is very pretty and doesn't like to see her new sister cry. They are too cute together. It was hard to spend the night away from Adelyn for mom and dad.

Aunty Laura and Uncle Ben brought us some delicious Arby's for Dinner. Kyle, Grandma Patti, and Grandpa Bradley brought flowers, and snuck some celebratory booze into the room. Delicious, I must say. Uncle John brought Luka fresh off the soccer field, still decked in cleats and shin guards (it was his birthday too).

Abby.....or is it Abi? - How to spell nicknames is already up for popular debate.

Abigail was the third grandchild in our family to be born on May 5th. Can you imagine the Cinco De Mayo parties to come in the near future?
